How To Do A Lying Leg Raise

Instructional Video

Written Instructions

  1. Lay flat on your back with your legs out fully extended and your arms resting on the floor beside you.
  2. Brace your core as you bring your legs up towards the sky, keeping them straight.
  3. Stop when the soles of your feet are facing the sky and your legs are 90 degrees to your body.
  4. Gradually lower your legs back down towards the floor but stop them a few inches off the floor to keep the tension and repeat.

Regression

To make this move easier, keep your legs bent. Start with your legs bent at around 90 degrees, feet resting on the floor, lift them up to the sky, keeping them bent. As you lower them back down, keep them bent and stop just before your feet reach the floor. Then repeat.

Progression

Looking for more of a flamin' challenge? Try doing cross kicks, adding in the horizontal leg movement can really help you get your sweat on.
